A busier than usual winter has taken us from first thinning sites on steep hill ground, to two sites with large diameter timber which is being felled as part of long term restructuring plans. Thankfully, the timber has not been affected by too much decay given its age, and will be sold in due course to a specialist sawmill. The timber was nearly all felled by hand i.e with a chainsaw, by highly experienced operators-the crew of three chainsaw operators had a combined experience level of 50+ years!
